Extended Disk Lifespan
The disks are utilized sequentially, with unused disks being powered off to save energy and significantly reduce temperature, vibration, and wear - the three main disk killers. The system employs a unique mirrored overlapping dual writing model to ensure full redundancy during critical writing processes, providing the resilience of RAID1 without requiring twice the number of disks. Within each disk, the sequential disk filing system eliminates vibrations from the disk and lowers the operating temperature. In the array, the use of sequential mirrored overlapping writing pairs only activates two disks at any given time while the others remain offline. This greatly reduces wear and diminishes array vibration and operating temperature. On average, each disk remains powered off 87% of the time. Disks automatically power up for playback, but playback from disks that are typically not written to is rare and has a negligible impact on the average duty cycle.

COLDSTORE 3U Pro 16 is built around industry-standard system components optimized by Veracity and supported by energy-efficient software. Even a fully loaded 320TB array will consume less than 90 watts. This low power consumption extends the lifespan of electronic components, resulting in extended disk lifespans, reduced cooling costs, and lower UPS purchasing costs, leading to a very low total cost of ownership.
